Quebec Skilled Worker Program: Highlights from Recent Arrima Draws
The Quebec Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration (MIFI) recently released the results of two invitation rounds for the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) through the Arrima portal. Here is a summary of the key details:
September 5, 2024 Draw:
- Invitations Issued: 1,417 candidates received invitations.
- Minimum Score Required: 575 points.
- Additional Requirements: The invited candidates also needed to demonstrate level 7 French proficiency and have a job offer outside Montreal.
August 29, 2024 Draw:
- Invitations Issued: 1,550 candidates were invited to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ).
- Minimum Score Required: 584 points.
- Additional Requirements: Candidates needed a minimum oral proficiency level of 7 in French and a valid job offer outside the Montreal region.
To qualify for the QSWP, candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Arrima portal. The Ministry then selects the highest-scoring candidates to apply for a CSQ.
The CSQ is the initial step toward immigrating to Quebec as a skilled worker, allowing candidates to subsequently apply for permanent residence with the federal government.
The selection is based on a points system that considers factors such as education, work experience, age, language proficiency, and adaptability.
The process to immigrate under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program includes two main stages:
- Provincial Selection
- Submit an EOI through the Arrima portal.
- Receive an invitation to apply for a CSQ based on the points score.
- Obtain the CSQ from the Quebec government.
- Federal Immigration
- Submit a complete permanent residence application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
- Provide police certificates and undergo medical examinations.
- Receive final approval for permanent residence in Canada.
The entire process may typically takes between 12 to 16 months from submitting the EOI to obtaining permanent residence. Bottom of Form
