Furthermore, IRCC has been emphasizing category-based Express Entry draws, targeting specific occupations like trades as part of its strategy to address labor market needs. In summary, the significant increase in invitations issued during the July 2024 Express Entry draw for trade occupations reflects Canada’s efforts to address labor demands through the Express Entry immigration pathway. According to an internal IRCC memo obtained earlier this year, trade occupations will account for 5% of all category-based draws in 2024, suggesting that more such draws can be expected throughout the year.
