This marks the fourth Express Entry draw focused on the general category in February 2024. During this draw, the IRCC extended invitations to a total of 1,490 candidates to apply for permanent residency. In accordance with the tie-break rule, only candidates who submitted their profiles on February 11, 2024, at 15:26:56 UTC were selected. In cases where multiple candidates share the lowest score, the tie-break is determined by the date and time of their Express Entry profile submissions. Candidates were required to have a minimum CRS score of 535, the lowest CRS score of the year thus far. The table below provides a summary of the Express Entry draws as of 2024:

We note a decreasing trend in the CRS score required during the last four Express Entry draws under General category.

To recall, in 2023, the IRCC conducted 42 draws, issuing ITAs to over 110,000 candidates to fulfil the admissions. The draws consisted of all-program draws, Provincial Nominee Program-only draws, and category-based selection draws. The new categories introduced by IRCC for Express Entry draws are Healthcare, Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions, Trades, Transport, Agriculture and agri-food, and Strong French proficiency. A first category-based draw took place on June 28 and invited 500 healthcare professionals to apply. Since then, IRCC has invited more than 16,000 Express Entry candidates through category-based selection. The highest volume of draws was in December when there were seven draws between December 6-21, 2023. The Immigration Levels Plan for 2024-2026 indicates that Canada will admit 110,000 new permanent residents.
