  • Align with the applicant’s qualifications (education or work experience) based on NOC duties.
  • Demonstrate recent related work experience unless exceptions apply (e.g., nurses or international graduates).

Language Proficiency

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English or French through results from a designated language test. The required Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels vary by TEER category as shown below:

Language test results are valid for two years from the test date.

Education

Applicants must possess at least a secondary school diploma or a higher credential.

  • Canadian Credential: Submit a copy of the credential.
  • Foreign Credential: Submit a copy along with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report valid for five years at the time of application.

Proof of Funds

Applicants must show sufficient funds to support themselves and their family for one year. The required amount is at least half of the low-income threshold for rural areas as determined annually by Statistics Canada.

Note: This requirement does not apply to applicants already working in Canada.

Intent to Reside
