British Columbia PNP Draw (BCPNP): July 09, 2024

The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) conducted its latest draw on July 9, 2024, issuing a total of 67 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency. The draw encompassed several categories:

  1. Under the General Draw, the Skilled Worker category required a minimum score of 134 points, resulting in 35 ITAs. This same threshold applied to the Skilled Worker – EEBC, International Graduate, and International Graduate – EEBC categories. Meanwhile, the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled category had a lower minimum requirement of 110 points.
  2. In the Targeted Draw, specific sectors saw varying score requirements:
  • Childcare sector applicants needed a minimum of 94 points, receiving 10 ITAs.
  • Construction sector applicants required 95 points, with 9 ITAs issued.
  • Healthcare professionals were required to score at least 104 points, receiving 12 ITAs.
  • Veterinary care applicants had the lowest minimum score of 80 points, receiving fewer than 5 ITAs.

The BC PNP conducts these draws regularly, typically every 1-2 weeks, to select candidates from the registration pool who align closely with British Columbia’s economic and labor market priorities. This approach helps manage processing times and supports provincial strategic objectives.

The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) conducted multiple draws aimed at various streams in 2024. Notably, the Tech Draw under Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration issued 1,500 invitations in January with scores ranging from 80 to 200, followed by 1,200 invitations in April with scores from 85 to 200. The Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry Level, and Semi-Skilled stream saw 600 invitations in February (scores between 60-135) and 550 in June (scores between 65-135). The Entrepreneur Immigration – Base Category issued 6 invitations in March. Throughout the year, draws occurred more frequently than previous years, suggesting BC’s active efforts to attract skilled workers and entrepreneurs to meet labour demands. Minimum score requirements increased, reflecting heightened competition, notably in the Tech Draw and Skilled Worker streams. Tech occupations dominated invitations, aligning with BC’s push to become a global tech hub. Despite fewer invitations in the Entrepreneur stream, steady draws indicate ongoing interest from business candidates, aimed at fostering economic growth. Comparatively, 2024 showed increased competition and higher score requirements than 2023, signaling BC’s strategic focus on skilled workers and tech talent.
