British Columbia invited 158 candidates in the latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw held on May 19, 2020

The May 19 draw targeted candidates from the Skills Immigration and Express Entry British Columbia categories. A specific area related to the coronavirus pandemic was included in the draw.

It has to be mentioned that a number of sales and service occupations were not included on May 19, 2020, because of the impact of the COVID-19 on British Columbia businesses.

Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC Draws 2020

It should be pointed out that the British Columbia PNP issues periodic ITAs to candidates for nomination under the BC PNP’s eligible streams:

• Skills Immigration: Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry Level, and Semi-Skilled
• Express Entry BC: Skilled Worker, International Graduate
• Entrepreneur Immigration

The BC PNP aims to accelerate the process for those wishing to obtain Canadian PR and settle permanently in British Columbia. The program is a 2-stage process. Interested candidates should first apply for a nomination to the provincial Government. When they are nominated, they can apply for permanent residence to the Federal Government. Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points toward their CRS score. As a result of which they are guaranteed to receive an ITA in a subsequent Federal Express Entry draw.

Processing Time

The estimated processing time for nomination applications under the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC is around 2-3 months.

Candidates who were invited in the May 19 draw have up to 30 calendar days to submit a complete application to the BC to be nominated under Provincial Nomination Programs
