Alberta’s New Worker Expression of Interest System

On September 23, 2024, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) announced a significant update regarding its immigration process for workers. Starting September 30, 2024, candidates interested in applying to specific worker streams must submit a Worker Expression of Interest (EOI). This new system aims to streamline the application process and better align candidate selection with Alberta’s labor market needs.

• Mid to Late October 2024: The first draws from the Worker Stream pool are expected to occur.

How the Worker EOI System Works

Candidates will fill out an online form through the AAIP portal, providing detailed information about their qualifications and work experience. Each submission will be scored using the Worker EOI points grid, which allocates points based on various factors such as education, language proficiency, and work experience.

Points Allocation

The maximum score is 100 points, distributed as follows:

Eligibility and Submission Guidelines
