Canada Emergency Response benefit (CERB)

Temporary financial support is being provided by the federal government to workers who have lost their part-time jobs. Many Canadians and international students are facing an unprecedented financial crisis due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. As a result of which the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) will allocate $ 500 a week for up to 16 weeks to workers.

Eligibility for the CERB:

Candidates must :

 be residing in Canada and at least 15 years old;

 have stopped working because of reasons related to COVID-19 or be eligible for Employment Insurance regular or sickness benefits or have exhausted their Employment

 have insurance regular benefits or Employment Insurance fishing benefits between December 29, 2019, and October 3, 2020;

 had earned employment and/or self-employment income of at least $5,000 in 2019 or in the 12 months prior to the date of their application; and

 have not quit their job voluntarily.

Note:

(i) When submitting their first claim, candidates cannot have earned more than $1,000 in employment and/or self-employment income for 14 or more consecutive days within the four-week benefit period of their claim.

(ii) When submitting subsequent claims, candidates cannot have earned more than $1,000 in employment and/or self-employment income for the entire four-week benefit period of their new claim.
