Ontario Targets 103 Occupations in Latest Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream Draw

On September 19, 2024, Ontario conducted a targeted draw under its Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream. This draw aimed at candidates with specific occupations aligned with Ontario’s labor market needs, inviting 1,696 candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores ranging from 312 to 519. This initiative is part of Ontario’s ongoing efforts to address skill shortages and attract top talent across various industries.

Candidates who received Notifications of Interest (NOIs) are eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The selected occupations cover a broad range of fields, including engineering, business management, finance, healthcare, architecture, and skilled trades.

The Human Capital Priorities Stream is a popular immigration pathway under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). It enables the province of Ontario to search the federal Express Entry pool and invite skilled workers to apply for permanent residence. This stream focuses on identifying candidates with the skills and experience needed to fill labor gaps in the province.

Ontario periodically conducts draws to select candidates based on labor market needs, targeting those in specific National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes. The program is highly competitive, and candidates are selected based on factors like work experience, education, language proficiency, and CRS scores.

Key Features:

  • Aligns with Ontario’s economic and labor market needs.
  • Selects candidates directly from the federal Express Entry pool.
  • Offers candidates a provincial nomination, adding 600 points to their CRS score, essentially guaranteeing an invitation to apply for permanent residency in Canada.
