August 22, 2024: Targeted Notifications for Skilled Trades Occupations

On August 22, 2024, Ontario issued targeted notifications of interest to potential candidates under the Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream. Candidates eligible for this stream had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 400 and 435 and work experience in specific National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes. To qualify, candidates must list their work experience in one of the following NOCs as their primary occupation in their Express Entry profile. Additionally, at least six months of their one year of eligible work experience must be in the primary NOC.

Candidates who received a notification of interest on August 22, 2024, may apply to the Skilled Trades stream by reviewing the requirements, completing the document checklist, and submitting an application via the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) e-Filing Portal.

August 19, 2024: New Process for Internal Review Requests

On August 19, 2024, the Government of Ontario announced significant updates to the

OINP Internal Review Process. Effective August 26, 2024, individual applicants and their representatives will need to submit Internal Review requests through a newly established section on the OINP e-Filing Portal. This change aims to enhance service delivery and streamline the application process for individual applicants.

Key Changes to the OINP Internal Review Process

• New Submission Method: From August 26, 2024, all Internal Review requests from individual applicants must be submitted through the new online portal. This shift is intended to improve efficiency and accessibility, replacing the previous email submission process.
• Impact on Employers: The changes specifically impact individual applicants. Employers will continue to submit Internal Review requests via the existing email process, which remains unchanged.
• Transition Period: Until the new system is operational on August 26, 2024, applicants can still use the current email process to request Internal Reviews. This period allows for a smooth transition to the new system.

These changes reflect Ontario’s commitment to modernizing immigration processes and enhancing the overall applicant experience. Individual applicants should prepare for the new online submission method while using the existing email process until the official switch.

August 13, 2024: Invitations for Employer Job Offer – Foreign Worker Stream

On August 13, 2024, Ontario issued invitations to apply under the Employer Job Offer:

Foreign Worker Stream. Invitations were sent to candidates with a minimum score of 50 for health occupations and 54 for other priority occupations.
